MATHEMATICS

Everything you learned about math is wrong. Well, not everything. And not entirely wrong. But pretty wrong.

Math has almost but not quite entirely nothing to do with numbers.

Mathematicians discover and articulate concepts.

Scientists apply those concepts to explain natural phenomena.

Engineers apply mostly metric (i.e., measurable, with the measure expressible using numbers), but some non-metric, concepts and explanations to create useful things. Artists, musicians, and architects apply mostly non-metric, but some metric, concepts and explanations to create and communicate useful things.

Most concepts are non-metric. So most math is about things other than numbers.
